Southern Sydney sits low. Rockdale, Arncliffe, Brighton-Le-Sands, Ramsgate and Sans Souci are close to Botany Bay with a high water table and flat fall on drainage, so stormwater does not clear as quickly as it does on higher ground. When a big rain event hits, pits fill, absorption struggles, and water backs up under houses and into garages — a pattern we see here far more than in the Hills or on the North Shore.
The area also carries heavy unit and duplex development mixed with older brick homes around Bexley. That means shared drainage lines, common stacks and disputes about which property a blockage sits under. We camera these lines and mark the location from the surface so responsibility is clear before anyone starts digging, and jetting is used rather than repeated cable clearing where the line will otherwise block again.
A duplex owner had water backing into the garage every heavy downpour. The camera showed a partially collapsed stormwater line with a section holding water. We jetted it clear, located and marked the damaged length from the surface, and quoted the repair in writing so the two owners could agree the works before the next storm season.
Two neighbouring properties both had slow drainage and neither wanted to pay for the other's pipe. We cleared the line and camera-surveyed it, established the blockage sat under one specific boundary, and supplied footage and a written report so the repair was quoted and paid for by the right owner.
