The Hills District splits neatly in two. Castle Hill, Baulkham Hills, Glenhaven and Dural are established, generously sized blocks where the sewer often runs thirty metres or more from the house to the boundary, through reactive clay soil that swells and shrinks with the seasons. That movement opens joints, and roots from mature gums and camphor laurels find them. Kellyville, Rouse Hill, Bella Vista and Norwest are newer: slab-on-ground construction, PVC drainage and flexible hoses under vanities that fail without warning and flood a floor in minutes.
Semi-rural properties around Dural and Glenhaven add tanks, pumps and septic to the mix, which need different diagnosis to a standard mains-connected home. Our Hills crew carries jetting, camera and detection gear because long runs and buried pipework are the norm here, not the exception.
A family had gurgling toilets and a wet patch in the back lawn that would not dry out. The camera showed a section of earthenware sewer that had dropped where clay soil had shifted. We cleared the line, marked the collapse from the surface and replaced the failed length rather than repeatedly clearing a pipe that would keep blocking.
An upstairs ensuite hose let go while the owners were at work, and water came through the kitchen ceiling below. We attended the same afternoon, isolated and replaced the failed hose, then checked and replaced the remaining original hoses through the house so the same failure did not repeat in another room.
