Plenty of the post-war housing still has its first supply pipework. It corrodes internally until pressure at the shower drops and the water discolours after a shutdown. Replacing the run in copper or PEX restores pressure and removes the pinhole leak risk in wall cavities.

Showers barely running upstairs and discoloured water after the street main was worked on. Testing showed heavily corroded galvanised supply from the meter through the house. We replaced the main run and the bathroom branches, and pressure at every outlet came back to normal the same day.
